Interviews for the LTO List
Your Local wants to remind elementary OTs who wish to be considered for the LTO List, that the deadline to indicate your interest via the Employee Portal is next Tuesday, February 28th. As of September of last year, this interview process is the only path onto the LTO List, even for members from the OT Roster who are currently teaching in long-term assignments. To be eligible, a member must have been hired no later than February 1, 2016 since Regulation 274 legislates an OT must be employed by the Board for at least 10 months and have taught 20 days. Interviews are expected to take place late in March. Please do not hesitate to contact the Local at etfotvot@gmail.com if you have any questions. This opportunity takes place only once per school year.

Provincial ETFO's Tentative Contract Extension
The regular course of negotiations would have the Local survey members about now to determine from the grass roots, issues pertaining to your working conditions that need to be addressed. By adding these concerns to those that cross the desk of the Local office between rounds of bargaining, (we respond to more than a thousand phone calls from TVOT members per school year and many many more emails), then looking at gains achieved elsewhere, your Collective Bargaining Committee would identify goals for local bargaining and take these to the membership for approval and direction. This proposed contract extension from Provincial ETFO hinders the opportunity to address local issues with a provision requiring the Board's consent for local bargaining to take place.
Your Local Executive asks you to consider the extension carefully. There are two sides to this proposal - you will be the decision makers when you vote between February 27th and March 3rd. The ETFO CB Facebook group offers some food for thought and a different perspective. Be informed about both sides.
