Interest in LTO Interview; Copyright Decision Tool; Raise in Salary

LTO Interview Survey now Available
Occasional Teachers who have taught at least 20 days with TVDSB and been employed for 10 months as an elementary Occasional Teacher i.e., hired before February 1, 2016, may apply to be interviewed for the LTO List.  The survey will remain posted for the month of February in the Employee Portal > Elementary LTO List New. As of September 2016 there are no longer any other routes to the LTO List so even if you have been hired from the OT Roster to fill a long-term assignment, you must apply to this interview process in order to be included on the LTO List.  Please do not hesitate to contact the OT Office if  you require further assistance.

Copyright Decision Tool
Information regarding a new tool that helps educators to decide whether print materials, artistic works or audiovisual materials can be used without getting copyright permission has been shared at ETFO events and with standing committees. This Copyright Decision Tool is a supplement to the Fair Dealing Guidelines created to help educators determine whether their use of a copyright-protected work is fair dealing. This Copyright Decision Tool was developed by the Copyright Consortium of the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC) and can be found at www.copyrightdecisiontool.ca

Raise in Pay
As a result of the Central Agreement, all ETFO members will receive a .5 % increase in pay on the 98th teaching day of 2016-2017.  That day is February 3, 2017 but given the two week lag between when money is earned and when it is paid, look for the increase to be reflected in your pay of February 17th for time taught between January 22nd and February 4th. That is to say, that pay period will include your first day at the increased rate of pay.

Attack on Quebec Mosque
One of the foundations of public education is that all children feel welcomed and accepted in our schools. This is the work of ETFO Teachers and Occasional Teachers each day in Thames Valley and we condemn this deplorable attack on the Muslim community.
