Our Occasional Teacher members have a diverse range of skills, knowledge, experience and know firsthand the realities and needs of occasional teaching. If you are an OT and are interested in offering a relevant workshop, please contact us at: mail@etfotvot.com

Please check your e-mails for registration information for ETFO Provincial’s Virtual Town Halls on Nov. 9th and 10th where they will discuss the to find out how voting “YES” gives our central bargaining team the strongest possible mandate to negotiate fair agreements and improvements to your working conditions, which are students’ learning conditions.

Both Central Strike Vote Virtual Town Halls will be open to all members. This means education worker and teacher/occasional teacher members can attend either meeting.

Are you in an LTO and still getting paid at the daily rate?

The Board has finished processing all delayed LTO forms and your grid rate should be reflected on your upcoming paycheque. If you still see the daily rate, please ensure your school has submitted your LTO form. If you need any assistance: etfotvot@gmail.com

L16.07 a) of our collective agreement says that, an Occasional Teacher who accepts and reports for an assignment shall be placed in that assignment unless otherwise mutually agreed.

Please note that L 16.07 b) stipulates that, “where there is a vacant classroom assignment reassignment of the Occasional Teacher from a non-classroom assignment, may be necessary at the discretion of the Principal to address student needs. “

ETFO TVOT believes that OTs like to assist where needed but ultimately make the final decision as to whether they are comfortable with the reassignment.

If you have recently be reassigned from a classroom assignment, or have been reassigned  from a non-classroom assignment when there was no unfilled vacancy, please e-mail us at: etfotvot.com

Think back to the first time you were in a fall LTO and submitted your QECO category change for the first time to the Board, and through no fault of your own, had your QECO processing delayed beyond the Dec. 31st submission deadline. Were you paid retroactively back to the start of your LTO? If this is the case, please email us, asap at: etfotvot@gmail.com

Article L18.01 of our collective agreement stipulates that Occasional Teachers should receive “all keys necessary to the assignment”. If you are not receiving keys for your daily assignments at particular schools, please e-mail the Local at: etfotvot@gmail.com. Under no circumstances should you be required to trade a personal item (e.g. car keys) for the classroom keys.
